this is true

There is a single cell soul living amoeba called the Dictyotrillum discoideum.  When resources are low, an ameobae will send out a signal to other little Dictyostelium discoideum, who will signal others as well, and all of the little dudes will start crawling towards eachother until they meet and become ONE SLUG, which is now a single organism.  It crawls until it finds a sunny and windy spot.  When it finds a destination, it stops , and 20% of the slug break off and become a stalk, which hardens.  In doing so, the 20% of the population dies.  The remaining 80% crawl to the top of the stalk and create an orb.  From there, the orb catches a breeze and drifts away.
